James Bellini
Dr James Bellini is a futurist, communications expert and broadcaster. James is an authority on technology and the future outlook for business within the context of the Internet, virtual markets and related developments in e-culture and business re-invention. He focuses on key management challenges related to issues of collaborative commerce, new business ‘eco-systems’ and future consumer trends.
James can best be described as 'an historian of the future' with a close interest in the interaction between emerging technologies and the challenges faced by current and future management.
After a Masters from Cambridge, a PhD from London School of Economics and a spell as university teacher he was the first British member of the renowned US-headquartered futurology 'think-tank', the Hudson Institute founded by Dr Herman Kahn. He subsequently joined BBC TV as presenter of The Money Programme, Newsnight and Panorama. This was the beginning of more than twenty years as a television programme-maker on business and politics, including three years with Financial Times Television and four years with Sky News. He was a senior consultant with the Henley Centre for Forecasting and the Economist Intelligence Unit and regularly works with leading IT names such as Hewlett Packard exploring the ‘New Economy’.
James is also founder of Media Counsellors, a UK-based communications and reputation management consultancy. He believes the key to business success lies in communicating with simplicity and clarity. James regularly lectures senior executives on practical and theoretical training to handle any media situation, including crisis management. He identifies the issues that could threaten your company's reputation and its business prospects, from product recalls and environmental incidents to poor commercial performance and challenges of corporate governance. He helps develop the central messages you must convey to the media.
James is the author of numerous books, special reports and analytical papers on social, political and business trends. He was for three years Editor of VISION, the four-language European business monthly and has contributed to such varied publications as Vogue, The Times, Survival, Business Life and the International Herald Tribune.
Recent speaking invitations have taken him to Argentina, Hong Kong, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Dubai, the United States and to practically every country in Europe.
James was engaged by the UK Government to advise on the launch of its e-government strategy.
